Boss Design Center handles basement remodeling in Bethesda from the first concept to the final walkthrough. Design, materials, permits, and construction are coordinated under one fixed-rate contract with no surprise costs.
We’ve completed basement finishing projects across Bethesda and the surrounding area. See what’s possible for your home.
"Construction process was smooth, much quicker than anticipated, and the crew was extremely skillful with expertise in all aspects of the work. Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and tile. They were extremely courteous and friendly throughout. We are extremely happy with the end result."
"What stood out about Boss Design was that they were designers first. They finished on time and on budget, and the whole team was a pleasure to work with. Having one company handle everything made such a difference compared to what our neighbors went through coordinating separate designers and builders."
"The renderings Talha created were so accurate. What we saw in the pictures is exactly what we got. Every single day when we walk into this space, we smile. We can't recommend Boss Design Center highly enough."
We’re a design-build firm. Your designer and your construction team work together from day one under one contract, with one point of accountability.
You know the full cost before construction starts. We don't use allowances or estimate-based pricing that shifts mid-project. The number in your contract is the number you pay.
The designer you meet at the consultation stays with your project through completion. You're not handed off to someone new once the contract is signed. One designer from start to finish.
Before we break ground, you will see exactly what your finished basement will look like. Not a rough sketch. A detailed, photorealistic rendering of the completed space.
Design, permits, construction, and project management are handled by one company. We coordinate all trades and keep your project on schedule.

A finished basement from Boss Design Center is a fully designed, permitted, and built living space. Every project includes the following scope:
Foundation assessment, moisture barriers, drainage solutions, and egress modifications. Moisture issues are resolved in the design phase.
Wall framing, ceiling framing, insulation, electrical rough-in and finish, HVAC adjustments, and plumbing for any bathroom or kitchenette.
Drywall installation and finishing, flooring (carpet, luxury vinyl, tile), drop or drywall ceilings, trim, millwork, doors, and paint.
Bathroom fixtures, kitchenette components, built-in shelving or cabinetry, entertainment features, and lighting throughout.
We obtain and manage all required permits and coordinate all trades. Your designer stays involved from consultation through completion.
Boss Design Center handles the full range of home renovation projects for Bethesda homeowners, including kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, home additions, whole house remodeling, and condo remodeling.
Boss Design Center is a licensed contractor in Maryland (MHIC), Virginia (Class A, #2705171217), and Washington, D.C. (DCRA), fully bonded and insured. We’re active members of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) and ProRemodeler Atlantic.
We’ve received Best of Houzz awards every year from 2016 through 2025, for both Design and Service, and hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Every project includes a 5-year warranty on structural work and a 1-year warranty on all other workmanship. Manufacturer warranties on fixtures and appliances are passed directly to you at project completion.
The average cost for a full basement finishing in the Maryland market is approximately $150,000. Adding a bathroom brings the average to around $180,000, an additional $30,850. Your specific cost depends on basement size, finish selections, and scope of work. We offer free consultations where we’ll assess your space and give you a realistic picture of what your project would cost.
A complete basement finishing includes waterproofing and moisture barriers, framing, insulation, electrical, HVAC adjustments, plumbing (if adding a bathroom or kitchenette), drywall, flooring, lighting, trim, paint, and all fixtures. We handle all permits and coordinate every trade. See the full scope at our basement finishing page.
Yes. After the design phase, every detail has been selected and every cost calculated. The price in your contract is the price you pay. We don’t use allowances, and we don’t renegotiate pricing during construction. Change orders occur only if structural damage is discovered after demolition or if you request changes to the original scope.
Designer continuity means the designer who creates your vision at the start of the project stays involved through the end of construction. At many firms, you meet a salesperson, then get handed to a designer, then to a project manager, each with their own interpretation of what you wanted. We don’t work that way. One designer. Your whole project.
Yes. Basement construction is generally one of the least disruptive renovation types because the work is primarily contained below grade. We implement protection measures for upper floors, maintain daily site cleanup, and coordinate access and working hours in advance so you know what to expect. Most Bethesda homeowners remain comfortably in their homes throughout the project.
Yes. We obtain and manage all permits required for your basement remodel, including building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical. You don’t need to contact the county, fill out applications, or schedule inspections. We coordinate with Montgomery County permitting authorities directly and keep the process on track.
Before any finishing work begins, we assess the existing moisture conditions in your basement and install appropriate solutions. This can include vapor barriers, drainage systems, sump improvements, and moisture-resistant framing and finish materials. Moisture management is addressed in the design phase, not discovered mid-construction.
Bethesda homeowners typically use finished basements as home theaters, dedicated home offices, guest suites with a full bathroom, kids’ playrooms, home gyms, craft or hobby spaces, or multi-purpose entertainment areas with a bar. Many basements combine two or three of these uses. We design around how your household actually intends to use the space.
On average, homeowners recoup approximately 70% of their basement finishing investment at resale. That’s a 70% ROI, making it one of the strongest returns available among renovation types. Beyond resale value, you’re adding livable square footage that your household benefits from every day you remain in the home, whether that’s a home office, a guest suite, or a family entertainment space.
Schedule a free consultation. We’ll visit your home, walk the space with you, talk through how you want to use it, assess any existing moisture or structural considerations, and give you a realistic cost range. There’s no obligation. It’s an opportunity to see what’s possible for your basement before committing to anything.
