What the Homeowners Wanted
Nobu and Teresa had lived in their Annandale townhouse for nine years. Dark traditional cabinets and black countertops made the kitchen feel dated. A wall separating the kitchen from the dining room blocked light, and the inner dining room sat unused. Teresa, originally from Spain, wanted the bright white kitchens with sleek design she grew up with.
The Design Approach We Took
The guiding concept: create a bright, open European-style kitchen that would feel like home to Teresa while maximizing function. Every decision flowed from this philosophy, from wall removal to cabinet finish selection. The goal was modern and sleek without feeling cold.
Removing the Wall and Opening the Layout
The first major decision was removing the wall between kitchen and dining room. This created the open-concept flow the couple wanted and brought natural light deeper into the floor. The dining room transformed from an unused dark corner to an extension of the kitchen.
Achieving the European Aesthetic
Glossy white cabinetry became the design foundation. Combined with natural wood tones, the palette delivered the clean, contemporary look Teresa knew from Spain. The high-gloss finish reflects light and amplifies the brightness throughout.

Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room transformed how both spaces function. Natural light now reaches the formerly dark dining area.
Ample Storage Despite Minimal Look
The modern aesthetic doesn't sacrifice function. As Talha promised during design, the kitchen delivers plenty of cabinet space for everything.
Warm Natural Wood Accent Tones
Wood elements balance the white palette, adding warmth and preventing the space from feeling sterile while maintaining the modern direction.
What It Was Like Working with Us
When Nobu called Boss Design Center, he explained what they wanted: modern design, white kitchen. Talha listened. Unlike other companies, he didn’t immediately ask about budget. He wanted to understand their vision first.
During the initial consultation, the couple shared their wish list. At the end, they discussed their rough budget. Talha said he could work with it. That approach, vision first, made the difference.
Construction was smooth and faster than anticipated. About a dozen crew members rotated through, many skilled in multiple disciplines: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, tile, painting. Years of experience showed in their attention to detail. As Nobu noted, they were “extremely courteous and friendly” throughout.
